The "Sight For the Sightless" Program

The focus of the "Sight For the Sightless" Program is to eradicate blindness developed through cataract in and around the villages of Maharashtra. Required screening of these patients in villages is done on the scheduled date of an "eye camp" organized by the institute. All patients identified with cataract are brought to the hospital, counseled and then operated upon. Although cataract surgeries are now only day care surgeries, due to the fact that these patients are incapable of taking the required post operative care, they are made to stay back at the hospital. After a final examination and handover of the required eyeglasses, they are dropped back to their respective villages. The upcoming K. K.
